At Yahoo Finance, you get free stock quotes, up-to-date news, portfolio management resources, international market data, social interaction and mortgage rates that help you manage your financial life. In your second year, you’ll discover key business finance skills and theories in your compulsory finance module. You’ll also build and hone your quantitative skills. You’ll then explore key management theories, tools and methods in three management modules, developing critical skills that will enable you to start to think for yourself and make your own business decisions. You will also choose one optional module, selecting any of those available across NBS. The annual NBS Module Fair will help you choose the right option for you.
This module provides students with an understanding of research in management and business as preparation for the Level 6 independent research project. Students will be encouraged to consider relevant philosophies, approaches and methodologies in research such as primary and secondary research, self-completion questionnaires and ethnography, and qualitative and quantitative research. Students will consider the role of ethics in research and will learn to apply these methods to a realistic business and management situation.
Christine (Chris) Regis serves as the University’s chief business and financial officer. Through supervision of eight direct reports, the Vice President oversees a wide range of administrative functions supporting the University’s academic mission. MSc in Business with a major in Finance and Class of 2017 student, Maria Rana, explains from her own perspective what students will learn in the major. Furthermore, Maria highlights how the degree will enable future graduates to be successful in the job market.
On completion of this module you will have produced a reflective learning journal (in the form of a Blog) based on your evaluation of theory to real world scenarios. As part of that journal will have watched and reflected on appropriate financial documentaries and movies which explore responsible financial management issues. Finally you will be apply your academic knowledge to a real world case and be able to critically evaluate the tensions between the financial academic theories as a responsible business attempts to maximise shareholder wealth.
