Factor companies – also referred to as debtors finance. Factoring is when a business sells its accounts receivable (invoices) to a third party (called a factor) so that it can receive cash without waiting the 30 or 60 days for customer payment. Customers pay their invoice directly to the factor company. The cost for providing this service will vary between companies and it is important for you to research these costs before entering into any agreement.
In your second year, you’ll discover key business finance skills and theories in your compulsory finance module. You’ll also build and hone your quantitative skills. You’ll then explore key management theories, tools and methods in three management modules, developing critical skills that will enable you to start to think for yourself and make your own business decisions. You will also choose one optional module, selecting any of those available across NBS. The annual NBS Module Fair will help you choose the right option for you.
This module aims to examine many of the key issues in management and entrepreneurship from an international comparative perspective. Students will consider how entrepreneurial firms operate in differing business cultures, dealing with issues such as corporate governance, management education and the increasingly entrepreneurial role of managers in modern business and how this has evolved.
You will focus on topical issues in international business and how organisations design and implement international business strategy, together with specialist subjects in banking and finance. You will acquire the knowledge, analytical and interpersonal skills needed to understand and manage complex organisations across national borders, especially in international trade, foreign direct investment and accounting and finance principles and techniques.
At the end of this course there are logical career paths into business, banking and financial management, both in the UK and around the world. You can also undertake further study at postgraduate level with a course such as our Business with Financial Management MSc. If you decide to start up your own business, it’s good to know that the combined turnover of our graduates’ start-up companies is higher than that of any other UK university.
